Euro-conference in Model Theory and Applications
Grants

With the European Community support, we are able to offer a limited number of grants (about 35). In order to be eligible for a grant, you must be a national of a state of the EC or of one of the Associated states (Bulgaria, Republic of Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Israel), AND fulfill one of the following two conditions:

  1. Be active inside a state of the EC or one of the Associated states, AND be at most 35 year old at the time of the conference. Allowance will be made for compulsory military or civil service (actual time spent in military or civil service) and child care (maximum two years per child for the actual time spent off work).
  2. Be active in a country other than one of the EC or one of the Associated states. There is not restriction of age.

To be considered for one of these grants, please

  1. Send a letter of application to Margarita Otero before October 31, 2001, preferably by e-mail (margarita.otero@uam.es), or by fax ((34) 91 397 4889. Attn: M. Otero), or by ordinary mail (Departamento de Matemáticas, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Cantoblanco 28049 Madrid, Spain).
  2. If you are a graduate student or a recent Ph D, please ask your thesis supervisor to send a brief recommendation letter to Margarita Otero.
The application letter should be brief (one page) and should include
  1. Your name
  2. Your home institution
  3. Your postal and electronic addresses
  4. Your supervisor's name, if applicable
  5. Your date of birth
  6. Your country of citizenship
  7. An estimate of the travel expenses you will incur.

The grant will cover the major part of the travel expenses, the registration fee, and allocate a per-diem of 60 Euros (for a maximum of 7 days). If necessary, the programme committee will select the grantees among the candidates. Attributions of grants will be made sometime in November 2001.
