Atelier MODNET de Théorie des modèles des corps
MODNET Research workshop on the Model Theory of fields

Luminy, 12 - 16 November 2007

Organisers: Zoé Chatzidakis (Paris 7), François Loeser (ENS), Anand Pillay (Leeds)

This meeting is one of the events organised by the Marie Curie Research and Training Network MODNET, a network financed by the European Community. We gratefully thank the CIRM for its financial support, hospitality, and great help in the organization of the meeting. We also thank the European Community for its financial support. The CIRM web page of our meeting is located at http://www.cirm.univ-mrs.fr/liste_rencontre/Rencontres2007/Chat07/Chat07.html

The focus of this meeting is the interactions between the Model theory of fields and other branches of mathematics such as Geometry. Experience has shown that such meetings, bringing together specialists from different areas, are very fruitful. Common interests emerge, and collaborations can be initiated.

The main topics covered in this workshop will be

    • Applications to Diophantine Geometry
    • Motivic Integration
    • Variations around Schanuel Conjecture
We intend to have several lectures on each of these topics. Other themes will be represented, such as: Geometric stability and differential fields; Definability issues in function fields or finitely generated fields; Combinatorial structures definable in pseudo-finite fields, study of the measure; Differential and Difference Galois groups; the Mann property; Weil cohomology groups from a model-theoretic point of view.

The list of participants is available on the Web site of the CIRM.
